The Geographical Information System or simply the GIS integration takes into account how to use advanced technologies and applications in construction, such as BIM models, ICTs, and geo-informatics, to solve problems in the construction of sustainable built environments, environment planning/sustainability like climate change, global warming.
GIS is rapidly emerging in a new role as the enabling technology for better communication and data interoperability. Using GIS as a means to achieve required stewardship, sustainable development goals, and savings targets significantly enhances the ability for a triple bottom line approach in expanding, operating, and maintaining the built environment. 3D GIS are most commonly applied in City or Urban area planning.
