Introduction

The AICTE/MAKAUT-approved B. Tech. Computer Science and Engineering degree course at the best engineering college in West Bengal for computer science, ODGI-Engineering College, Uluberia, Howrah emphasizes the education and training to design, implement, test, and utilize the hardware and software of digital computers and digital systems. The proposed course curriculum judiciously covers all aspects of computer systems from electronic design through Basic electronics, Logic design, PC hardware & peripherals, Microprocessor and VLSI  concepts  and  device  utilization,  Computer  organization  &  architecture,  Data  Structures, Operating system concepts, Systems programming, Networking, Cyber security, Higher-level language skills, Object oriented programming concepts, Database management system, Software engineering and their applications to systems.

To meet the present day technology requirements, we also teach advanced subjects like AI, Big data, Cloud computing, Data analytics, IoT, Robotics with hands-on practices to our students.

  1. An online coding competition in Python organized by department of Computer Science & Engineering department on 18-08-2020 for the students of class XI and class XII of nearby schools. 
  2. An online coding competition in C language organized by department of Computer Science & Engineering department on 22-07-2020 for the students of class XI and class XII of nearby schools. 
  3. Technical Fest VOYAGE 2019 held on college premises. Energy Consumption Meter, Face Detection System, Fingerprint Detection System, Wi-Fi controlled Radar Vehicle are some of the notable projects.
  4. A coding competition and poster presentation for CSE Students’ Chapter of Institute of Engineers organized by department of Computer Science & Engineering on 09.03.2019. 2nd and 3rd year CSE students participated in the program. Coding competition is held on computer labs. Students write codes using different language like C, Java, and Python for some interesting problems. Poster presentation held in ground floor seminar hall. Students have created posters on different topics of recent trends on computing like cloud computing, block chain, machine learning etc. They have also presented their posters in front of faculties and other students. Prizes and certificates are given to the participants after the end of poster presentation.
  5. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized Interview preparation of students on 29th, 30th January and 2nd February, 2019.
  6. Technical Fest VOYAGE 2018 held on college premises. Students of B. Tech Computer Science & Engineering implemented interesting projects like Wi-Fi controlled robotic car, online review base hotel selection system, obstacles avoiding robot etc.
  7. The Government of West Bengal had organized a national level workshop to ensure a Cyber Safe Bengal. It was named ‘Knowledge Exchange on Cyber Security’. The workshop was organized at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town in March 2018.
  8. Amit Prasad Rauth, a student of the Department, presented a paper ‘Design and evaluation of Text Pre-Processor – A tool for Text Pre-Processing’ in the International Conference on Advances in Science and Technology – ICAST held in March 2017.
  9. Arka Bhowmick, a student from the Department, won (i) Overtook (ii) Carb-o-botics competition in Resonance v9 robotics competition in two separate events, at CEMK, Kolaghat, 2017.

The Computer Science & Engineering has more job opportunities in India than any other branch and it is also highest paying engineering branch for many years.
